EndNote: Getting Started

UCC has a site license to EndNote and it is installed on all student and library PCs. Training takes place on a regular basis. See Referencing Tab above. Email r.bradfield@ucc.ie for details.

Endnote X8 is available for Staff and Students on Campus / University PCs – home use is not covered in this licence agreement so just available on Staff Work PCs or Student Lab PCs.

For staff computers the software is available at software service catalogue

If you wish to purchase EndNote for your laptop or home device you can get the academic rate (UCC email address required) by visiting EndNote - CHEST

Note: the web version is free. To set up an account see my endnote web on a campus PC. Also note if you use EndNote X8 it will sync with this web account.

Introduction to EndNote 

In the” Introduction to EndNote Training” class you will learn how to

1.   Open EndNote

2.    Create a New Library

3.    Populate it with some references from various databases such as

• JSTOR
• Science Direct
• Web of Knowledge
• Academic Search Premier
• Google Scholar
• Library Catalogue
• & Manually add references to EndNote

5.    Organising your references within EndNote, styles etc

6.    Importing into Word

7.    Some basic editing

8.    Creating an “EndNote Online” account
