UCC Staff Member: Library Access

UCC Staff

As a staff member of UCC you are entitled to use the Library. To gain entry you will need a valid UCC Staff Card. This can be obtained from the UCC Human Resources Department.

Staff library accounts are not automatically created, Staff must fill out a Library Registration Form  below.  A library account will then be created for you.

Visiting Academics/Researchers

Occasionally Departments require library access for visiting academics or researchers. The visitor should fill out the Library Registration Form and submit a letter from their department to the Library & IT Desk in the Boole Library.

This letter must be on headed paper and include the following information:

  • The visitor’s full name.
  • Confirmation that they are working with the department.
  • The end date of their association with the department.

A Library account will then be created and access card issued.
Please Note: There is a €5 administration fee payable to the smartcard office for your access card.

Lost/Stolen Cards

Lost or Stolen UCC Staff cards should be reported to the UCC Department of Human Resources .

A replacement fee of €5 shall apply in the case of lost/stolen cards.

Retired Staff

When a member of UCC Staff retires all their privileges with UCC Library remain unchanged.

However there are some procedures that will need to be followed.

The retired staff member will need to:

Contact Human Resources to get a new Staff ID Card.

Contact the Library & IT Desk, Boole Library so that their Library Account may be updated.

Practice Educators/Placement Supervisors

Departments may require library access for Practice Educators and Placement Supervisors. Library access can be given for the duration of their supervisory role. Ideally the department should send a list of the supervisors who require access to library@ucc.ie. The applicant should fill out the Library Registration Form.

Alternatively a Department can request access for an individual supervisor, they should fill out the Library Registration Form  and submit a letter from their department to the Library & IT Desk in the Boole Library.

This letter must be on headed paper and include the following information:

  • The Supervisor's full name.
  • Confirmation that they are working with the department.
  • The end date of their association with the department.

A Library account will then be created and access card issued.
