About Speakers

Keynote Speakers: Friday 22 July - Pat Mehigan & Martin O'Driscoll

Pat Mehigan MSc, BEng, CEM is the UCC Energy Manager and is tasked with working with staff and students to reduce the energy consumption across the University. Through our ISO 50001 energy management systems Pat works with our significant energy users to manage their energy use through operational control, building awareness campaigns and implementing energy efficiency upgrades.

 

 

 

Martin O’Driscoll is the Library Spaces Co-Ordinator for UCC Library. His current role is the development of technology rich leaning and teaching spaces in UCC Library. He has worked in UCC Library for over 20 years and has held many roles. Most recently he was the Senior Library Assistant at the Library Services Desk. He has been involved with the Library Sustainability team since its inception and has been involved in implementing the library sustainability initiatives.

Keynote Speaker: Saturday 23 July - Loida Garcia-Febo

Loida Garcia-Febo is a Puerto Rican American librarian and International Library Consultant expert in library services to diverse populations and human rights. President of the American Library Association 2018-2019, President of REFORMA 2009-2010, IFLA Governing Board 2013-2017. Currently: IFLA MLAS Info Coordinator, IFLA Division C Secretary, Chair ALA's Committee on the Status of Women in Librarianship. Born, raised, and educated in Puerto Rico, Garcia-Febo has advocated for libraries at the United Nations, the European Union Parliament, U.S. Congress, NY State Senate, NY City Hall, and on sidewalks and streets in various states. She's a big promoter of sustainability and Chaired ALA's UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Task Force. She advocated on behalf of IFLA at the UN to include libraries in the Sustainable Development Goals.
