CORA is University College Cork's online, open access institutional repository, established by UCC Library to collect, store and disseminate the digital research output of the UCC scholarly community. CORA gives you free open access to University College Cork's scholarly and scientific research publications and theses
The Library supports Green Open Access publishing via CORA. This Green route involves no costs to researchers and enables you to deposit the final manuscript version of your papers in the CORA repository, where they will be published open access.

Open access to research literature is "digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. What makes it possible is the internet and the consent of the author or copyright-holder" Peter Suber, Harvard Office for Scholarly Communication
Authors have a key role to play in making research open access. There are two ways authors can make their publications open access:
Author-Archived Open Access
Authors can put copies of the final draft/accepted version of their publications into a repository such as CORA, the UCC institutional repository. This is also known as Green open access. No cost to authors.
UCC has open access agreements with many publishers. These 'Transformative Agreements' typically allow corresponding authors from eligible institutions, including UCC, to publish their articles open access immediately on publication, at no additional cost to authors.
You can read more about how to avail of these open access 'Transformative Agreements' here: https://libguides.ucc.ie/openaccess/agreements
