IReL and Open Access: Association of Computing Machinery (ACM)

IReL, the Irish Research eLibrary is a nationally funded electronic research library. IReL also seeks to secure open access agreements with publishers.

Overview

IReL's 'ACM OPEN' agreement provides read access to the ACM Digital Library, while enabling all eligible corresponding authors, affiliated with participating institutions (including UCC), to publish their scholarly articles with ACM on an open access basis without needing to pay article processing charges (APCs). Agreement period: 1 Jan 2023 — 31 Dec 2025

Instructions for Authors

For your article submission to be included under the agreement, you must be the corresponding author and affiliated to 'University College Cork' at the time the article is accepted for publication. In the article submission process you must correctly identify your institution as 'University College Cork'. You must use your UCC email address, and not addresses from other domains.

The corresponding author is the author handling the manuscript and correspondence during the publication process and has authority to act on behalf of all co-authors in all matters pertaining to publication of the manuscript, and acts as the point of contact for any enquiries regarding the paper.

Submitting authors will be presented with three publication options:

  1. Institutionally paid Open Access (CC-BY open access) – the default option; recommended
  2. Closed Access with Exclusive Licence to Publish/Licence
  3. Closed Access with copyright transfer
