This guide highlights the issues surrounding the ethical use of information. This is a fundamental aspect of Academic Integrity.
It is about engaging with information responsibly: understanding rights & responsibilities, plagiarism, citing and referencing, the purpose of copyright, licensing, and intellectual property. Also relevant is critical appraisal, what constitutes ‘truth’, and concepts like misinformation, disinformation, cognitive bias, algorithmic bias, and information overload. Please use the tabs above to find out more.
See UCC's Guides to Academic Integrity, including the six fundamental values of academic integrity as laid out by the International Center for Academic Integrity.
