UCC Library is delighted to announce that the new Digital Scholarship Studio is now open on Q+1.
The UCC Library Digital Scholarship Studio is a technology-rich space providing access to equipment, hardware and software for creating new knowledge, and provides opportunities for our users to develop their digital literacy skills. The Digital Scholarship Studio contains a number of Dell and Mac workstations with access to creative media and other specialised software to support digitally-enabled projects.
The Digital Scholarship Studio also contains the digital makerspace with access to 3D printing, 3D scanning, technology loans and other equipment. More details on the Digital Scholarship Studio is available on our website: https://libguides.ucc.ie/digitalscholarshipstudio. The services offered will continue to evolve in the next academic year including the provision of workshops and instructional sessions within the space.
Examples of some recent work supported through the Digital Scholarship Studio include the 3D scanning of a historical chalice, providing access to space and technology for students in the Digital Arts & Humanities programme who were digitising wrappers with The Butter Museum and the 3D printing of a wooden Japanese flute for use in the classroom.
UCC Library is excited to bring you this new and innovative service, which complements our existing library services already supporting learning, teaching and research including The Library Studio and our VR Digital Experiences Lounge.
If you would like to speak to staff to explore ways to integrate the Digital Scholarship Studio into your teaching or research, please reach out to us at: librarydigitalexperiences@ucc.ie.
