IReL and Open Access: American Chemical Society (ACS)

Overview

Under the IReL-ACS agreement (2021 - 2025) eligible corresponding authors in participating institutions (including UCC) will, at the time an article is accepted for publication in an ACS journal, be invited to publish the article open access at no extra cost. The agreement covers all peer reviewed articles accepted for publication in any ACS journal.

The agreement also includes read access to all of the American Chemical Society journals.

Instructions for Authors

For your article submission to be included under the agreement, you must be the corresponding author and affiliated to 'University College Cork' at the time the article is accepted for publication. During the article submission process you must correctly identify your institution as 'University College Cork'. You must use your UCC email address, and not addresses from other domains.

See: Publisher Page

and How to Publish Open Access for authors covered under an ACS Read + Publish Agreement

As of April 2021, articles accepted between January and March 2021 are in the process of being converted to open access retrospectively.

Note:  There is a quota of 111 articles, to be used by participating members on a first-come-first-served basis. There is a provision in the agreement for purchasing extra articles if required.
