IReL and Open Access: IEEE

IReL, the Irish Research eLibrary is a nationally funded electronic research library. IReL also seeks to secure open access agreements with publishers.

Overview

The IReL-IEEE agreement (1 March 2021 – 31 December 2023):

  • Allows corresponding authors (where they are a current staff member or student at the time the article is accepted for publication) to publish articles open access in all IEEE journals (hybrid and fully open access journals).
  • The agreement also provides read access is to all journals, conference proceedings and standards from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEEE).

Instructions for Authors

For your article submission to be included under the agreement, you must be the corresponding author and affiliated to 'University College Cork'.  During the article submission process you must correctly identify your institution as 'University College Cork'. You must use your UCC email address, and not addresses from other domains.

Note: As of 29th September, this quota is now fully used. Authors will not be offered IReL-funded APCs for the rest of 2023.

Authors can continue to make their articles available using the Green open access model, subject to the journal’s policy. Deposit the accepted manuscript in CORA UCC's open access respository. Contact the CORA team at cora@ucc.ie
