IReL and Open Access: IEEE

IReL, the Irish Research eLibrary is a nationally funded electronic research library. IReL also seeks to secure open access agreements with publishers.

Overview

Agreement period: 1 January 2024 – 31 December 2026

  • Allows corresponding authors (where they are a current staff member or student at the time the article is accepted for publication) to publish articles open access in all IEEE journals (hybrid and fully open access journals).  Selected subscription-only publications (mainly magazines) are excluded. See the IEEE journal title list.
  • The agreement also provides read access is to all journals, conference proceedings and standards from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEEE).

OA quota per year:  Allocated across the participating institutions on a first-come-first-served basis. Based on modelling in late 2023, we project that this allocation will meet demand for all eligible articles during the agreement’s term:

  • 2024: 230 articles
  • 2025: 220 articles
  • 2026: 210 articles

You must use your UCC email address, and not addresses from other domains.

Authors can continue to make their articles available using the Green open access model, subject to the journal’s policy. Deposit the accepted manuscript in CORA UCC's open access repository. Contact the CORA team at cora@ucc.ie
