IReL and Open Access: PLOS Public Library of Science

IReL, the Irish Research eLibrary is a nationally funded electronic research library. IReL also seeks to secure open access agreements with publishers.

Overview

The IReL-PLOS agreement 1 Feb 2022 - 31 Dec 2024 allows current staff and students at participating institutions to make articles accepted for publication in eligible PLOS journals open access without article processing charges (APCs). 

Instructions for Authors

For your article submission to be included under the agreement, you must be the corresponding author and affiliated to 'University College Cork'. In the article submission process you must correctly identify your institution as 'University College Cork'. You must use your UCC email address, and not addresses from other domains. 

Eligibility is based on article acceptance date.

What journals are included?

The following journals are included:

  • PLOS Digital Health
  • PLOS ONE
  • PLOS Computational Biology
  • PLOS Pathogens
  • PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases
  • PLOS Genetics

PLOS journals excluded from the agreement: PLOS Climate, PLOS Global Public Health, PLOS Water, PLOS Biology, PLOS Medicine, PLOS Sustainability and Transformation.
