IReL and Open Access: Royal Irish Academy

IReL, the Irish Research eLibrary is a nationally funded electronic research library. IReL also seeks to secure open access agreements with publishers.

Overview

This agreement (which runs from 1 Jan 2024 – 31 Dec 2026) allows corresponding authors from participating members (including UCC) to publish unlimited OA articles without APCs in the RIA’s six journals:

  • Ériu
  • Irish Studies in International Affairs
  • Irish Journal of Earth Sciences (IJES)
  • Mathematical Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy
  • Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy
  • Biology and Environment

The agreement also provides read access to these titles via JSTOR, plus access to the back issues of same, and earlier journal publications of the Royal Irish Academy.
