IReL and Open Access: Optica Publishing Group

IReL, the Irish Research eLibrary is a nationally funded electronic research library. IReL also seeks to secure open access agreements with publishers.

Overview

The IReL-OPG agreement (January 2025 – December 2027) gives current staff and students at participating institutions:

  • Access to Optics InfoBase Premium 
  • The ability to make articles accepted for publication in eligible Optica Publishing Group journals open access, without the author paying an article processing charge (APC) 

OA quota per year: the OA publishing fund with this agreement is unlimited.  For more information see Optica Publishing Group – IReL

Instructions for Authors

For your article submission to be included under the agreement, you must be the corresponding author and affiliated to 'University College Cork'. During the article submission process you must correctly identify your institution as 'University College Cork'. You must use your UCC email address, and not addresses from other domains.
