The collection comprises Michael Kirby’s printed works and editions of the works published posthumously.
Michael Kirby or Micheál Ua Ciarmhaic (1906-2005) was born in Ballinskelligs, County Kerry and he lived there for most of his life, except for a brief period when he went to America. He was seventy-eight years old when his first book Cliathán na Sceilge was launched at Listowel Writers Week in 1984. Between then and when he died in 2005 he had written eleven books, all published.
The collection was donated by Michael Kirby’s family.
