Japanese National Diet Library: Japanese Input

The National Diet Library (NDL) (国立国会図書館, Kokuritsu Kokkai Toshokan) is the national library of Japan and among the largest libraries in the world.

Searching the National Diet Library via the Digitized Contents Transmission Service is only available  in the Digital Scholarship Studio , Q+1 ,Boole Library.

 

Follow the steps below to add the Google Chrome Extension , which will allow you to input Japanese Characters for your search.

Make sure your using Chrome as your browser

Visit the Chrome Web Store HERE

Search for the Google Input Tools extension

Click to add the extension and confirm with Add Extension

On the top right click on the extension icon and choose "Extension Options"

This will open the list of available languages. Scroll down to Japanese

When you highlight Japanese , click the Right Arrow which appears to add it to the extension

When you complete this , the box in the right has the languages you have chosen.

On the top right corner , select the extension icon and then choose the language for inputting

When you have selected this , the icon turns blue to indicate that the language is active.

Now when you are inputting a search , an additional box is shown where you can type your Japanese characters and press Return to input them into the search form.
