This experience featured in and influenced his work. In 1957 he moved to the US and then to Nova Scotia. In 1976 he moved to West Cork in Ireland, dividing his time between there and Strasbourg. He described himself as a storyteller and satirist and his output varies between children’s books, adult books many of which deal with sexuality.
