Last Day for processing of External Reader Applications is 4.30 pm Thursday 17th April.
Applications will be processed again from Tuesday April 22nd.
Staff at other Universities in the Republic of Ireland can apply for access to UCC Library through the Library Link (formerly ALCID) or SCONUL Access Schemes.
Staff from UK universities can apply for access through the SCONUL Access Scheme.
Please note: you must apply to your home library for a Library Link card or for a SCONUL Access approval email in the first instance. UCC Library accepts BAND A or BAND C SCONUL approval emails.
Once approved for Library Link or SCONUL Access by your home Library you must apply for membership of UCC Library in order to get an access card; no fee applies.
Processing of Membership Applications can take up to 1 week.
Please note there is no access to:
UCC Library electronic resources
Computer or printing/photocopying/scanning facilities
Bookable spaces such as Group Study Rooms, Study Pods, Digital Scholarship Studio, Library Studio, Podcast Room, etc.
External readers should note that they accept Library Regulations by becoming members and are subject to the same rules as UCC students and staff. UCC Library External Reader cards are non transferable and can only be used by the person to whom the card is issued.
UCC Library cannot accept direct applications from taught-course students at other Irish academic and educational institutions. Undergraduate and Diploma Students at other universities who wish to use UCC Library should apply to their own university library for a Letter of Introduction.
This letter can then be presented at the Library Services Desk during staffed opening hours. (Mon-Fri 09:30-12:45 & 14:00-16:30)
A Letter of Introduction can only be used for one visit. During study week and exam periods when the library is very busy, it may not be possible to accommodate visiting students.

Postgraduate Students (Doctoral and Masters - taught and research) at other Universities in the Republic of Ireland can apply for access to UCC Library through the Library Link or SCONUL Access Schemes.
